Inspector I: $37.08 – $47.33/hourly
Inspector II: $42.93 – $54.79/hourly
Scheduled salary increases include the following:
- July 1, 2024: 2% salary adjustment + 2% – 4% cost-of-living adjustment
- July 1, 2025: 2% – 4% cost-of-living adjustment
- Annual Merit Increases: Full-time employees are eligible for 5% merit increases on an annual basis until they reach the top of their pay range.

This critical position is a non-exempt, journey-level class. Under general supervision, performs detailed inspections of complex, multi-disciplined public works and waterworks construction projects; integrates plans, details and specifications to ensure construction and contract compliance; prepares and conducts preconstruction meetings and constructability reviews; prepares detailed project inspection reports; and participates in the change order process; prepares presentations to district staff; and performs related duties as assigned.
Inspector I is the entry-level class and is flexibly staffed with the Inspector II class. Typically, proficiency criteria are met within 12 to 24 months depending on an individual’s experience. Qualifications
The successful candidate must have at least five years of experience in public works construction or equivalent with at least one year experience as a journey-level or equivalent.
Training and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from high school or GED.
Must have a valid Class C California driver’s license and ability to maintain insurability under the district’s vehicle insurance policy.
A valid State of California State Water Resources Control Board Water Distribution Operator Certificate, Grade 2 (D2), or ability to obtain within two years.
Inspector II:
Possession of a Location Training Certification or ability to obtain within one year.
