GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY
Hardy & Harper Inc. is adding a Paving Superintendent to its team. The right candidate shall be motivated, dependable, and capable of working as a team and working independently.
The Superintendent is responsible for overseeing and managing the successful execution of subcontracted asphalt and paving projects. Candidate must possess a strong knowledge of construction practices, techniques, and regulations, and adhere to Hardy & Harper safety standards and protocols. You will oversee subcontracted work ensuring compliance with contract documents, the project schedule, the daily operation of multiple job sites, including scheduling, production, procurement of materials, manpower, equipment and quality. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in public and private asphalt and paving construction with a proven ability to manage and oversee construction projects from start to finish.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO):
· Plan work methods, materials, equipment needs and work schedule for assigned project work. Plan and schedule construction activities, including resource allocation, material orders and equipment coordination
· Review and interpret construction plans, specifications, and contracts
· Supervise all direct labor positions on the assigned project. Responsible for managing the foreman and crews in all their duties relative to the project
· Coordinates with internal and external teams to ensure that project work is equipped with appropriate equipment and material quantities to complete production within assigned budget and schedule
· Conduct regular site inspections to ensure quality control and compliance with project requirements
· Resolve construction issues and conflicts, including coordination with project stakeholders
· Job site hiring and dismissal of field personnel
· Maintain accountability for overall project success, including financials, contractual obligations, quality control, timeliness, and client satisfaction
· Create, monitor and maintain project schedules, budgets and subcontractor coordination
· Attend, as necessary, job site meetings with owners, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and employees
· Collaborate with project managers to assess progress and spot upcoming issues.
· Ensures all parties, including executive management, clients, subcontractors involved with the project are informed of construction issues and progress.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Minimum of 10 years of experience in a supervisory role within the asphalt and paving industry, with a focus on public works construction projects
· Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and contracts
· Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office
· Strong leadership skills with the ability to communicate well verbally and in writing.
· Detailed-oriented with a strong work ethic and problem-solving ability in a fast-paced environment
· Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance to access secured facilities, including military bases and schools.
· In-depth knowledge of construction codes, Greenbook, safety regulations, and best practices.
· 2+ years leading, developing, and motivating teams
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $110,216.00 - $120,000.00 per year
