SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Support level position, working under the supervision of an experienced technician and/or Systems Support Manager.
FUNCTIONS:
- Assemble, test, and maintain, support and repair test systems for Sperry vehicles.
- Provide test equipment support to fleet by:
- Troubleshooting & Problem Solving: Ability to troubleshoot, analyze, and execute repairs sometimes with limited resources.
- Mechanical abilities: Basic knowledge of how machines operate including mechanical and electrical components.
- Hands on Skills: Proficiency in using various hand tools and equipment to perform maintenance and repairs.
- Ability to assist with commissioning of new Sperry vehicles.
DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC/NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
· Education: High School Diploma/GED. Post-secondary education and/or technical trade certificate is an asset.
· Experience: Two to three years technical experience in the areas listed above.
· Skills/Qualifications: Proficiency with basic office computer software, and the ability to learn how to effectively use software to input data and conduct research.
- Skills/Competencies: Communicate effectively; work in a team environment or independently when needed.
- Mechanical abilities: Basic knowledge of how machines operate including mechanical and electrical components.
- Hands on Skills: Proficiency in using various hand tools and equipment to perform maintenance and repairs.
- Troubleshooting & Problem Solving: Ability to troubleshoot, analyze, and execute repairs sometimes with limited resources.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS/SCOPE:
· Interacts with direct supervisor.
· Interacts across departmental boundaries.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The employee will predominantly work indoors in the main Systems Support Lab however, there will be the need to travel from vehicle to vehicle in the US, and the potential for international travel. Work may be performed at railroad sites and shops. Weather conditions may be extreme. Travel is expected to be 20%-25%, with one week away per month.
