Job Title: Writer’s Assistant
Status: Part-Time, hourly
Location: Beverly Hills, CA
Rate: $30-55/hour depending on experience
Summary:
Seeking writer located in Los Angeles, for a part time job. Job requires in-person work (office on West Side). Hours are afternoon weekdays. Flexible within that time range. 10-15 hours per week. Job is to assist a writer in completing a first draft of a memoir; bringing order to a substantial compilation of written pages. Experienced writer preferred. Creative non-fiction a plus. Published writer a significant plus. Able to assist in some administrative tasks a plus.
Job Description:
Organizational Skills
- Takes notes
- Organizes and collates sections of manuscripts
- Organizes notes from editors for possible revisions of manuscripts and insert into drafts for review and editing
- Maintain organized records of documents and revisions
Research
- Conducts research on topics related to author’s current project or upcoming book
- Organizes digital and physical files of research materials for future reference
- Maintains research records, reports, and files
- Editing experience
- Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar
- Excellent attention to detail
Review & Submission of Materials
- Makes editing suggestions
- Reviews drafts of manuscripts to ensure that they are grammatically correct and meet publishing standards
- Identifies potential markets for author's work, including literary journals, magazines, or other media outlets, and upon review and approval, submits
- Arranges meetings with agents, editors, publicists, and other publishing professionals on behalf of the author
Administrative Skills
- Set appointments
- Manage various tasks as assigned by writer
Skills Prerequisite:
- Tech savvy, excellent organizational skills, excellent editorial skills.

Pay: $30.00 - $55.00 per hour
