Casper Company is seeking a dependable and motivated Entry-Level Mechanic to support the maintenance and repair of company vehicles, trucks, construction equipment, small engines, tools, and related machinery.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has basic mechanical knowledge, enjoys working with their hands, and wants to develop a career as a mechanic. The Entry-Level Mechanic will work under the direction of experienced mechanics and shop leadership while gaining hands-on experience with preventive maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist experienced mechanics with the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of company vehicles and equipment.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance, including oil changes, fluid checks, filter replacements, lubrication, battery checks, and tire inspections.
- Assist with brake, suspension, electrical, hydraulic, cooling, and fuel-system repairs.
- Inspect vehicles and equipment for visible damage, leaks, worn components, and other potential safety or mechanical concerns.
- Help diagnose mechanical problems using basic tools, diagnostic equipment, service manuals, and guidance from senior mechanics.
- Maintain and repair small engines, generators, compressors, saws, pumps, and other construction-related tools and equipment.
- Assist with mounting, balancing, rotating, repairing, and replacing tires when trained and authorized.
- Clean, organize, and maintain the shop, work areas, tools, equipment, and parts-storage areas.
- Retrieve, identify, and organize parts and supplies needed for maintenance and repairs.
- Complete maintenance records, inspection forms, work orders, and other required documentation accurately and promptly.
- Report unsafe equipment, damaged tools, missing parts, and maintenance concerns to the supervisor.
- Follow company procedures for the proper handling, storage, and disposal of oil, fluids, batteries, filters, and other materials.
- Follow all company safety policies and wear required personal protective equipment.
- Assist with service calls or field repairs when assigned.
- Operate company vehicles and equipment only when properly trained, licensed, and authorized.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
- Basic knowledge of automotive, diesel, equipment, or small-engine maintenance.
- Mechanical experience gained through school, vocational training, military service, personal projects, previous employment, or similar hands-on experience is preferred.
- Ability and willingness to learn from experienced mechanics and follow instructions.
- Basic ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, jacks, lifts, and shop equipment.
- Ability to identify common mechanical parts and understand basic maintenance procedures.
- Basic reading, writing, math, and computer skills.
- Ability to complete work orders and maintenance documentation accurately.
- Strong attendance, dependability, and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and organized workplace.
Licenses and Certifications
- Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record may be required.
- Automotive, diesel, welding, or vocational training is helpful but not required.
- ASE certifications are helpful but not required.
- Forklift, equipment, or other job-related certifications are a plus.
- Casper Company may provide additional job-specific training based on business needs.

Physical Requirements

- Frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, reach, push, pull, and work in confined or awkward positions.
- Regularly use hands and arms to operate tools, equipment, parts, and controls.
- Frequently lift and carry tools, parts, and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Occasionally lift or move heavier items with assistance or appropriate lifting equipment.
- Work underneath, around, and on top of vehicles and construction equipment.
- Perform work requiring manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and close visual attention.
- Safely wear required personal protective equipment.
Work Environment
- Work is primarily performed in an active maintenance shop and yard environment.
- The position may occasionally require work at construction sites or other field locations.
- The employee may be exposed to moving vehicles and equipment, noise, vibration, dust, grease, oil, exhaust, chemicals, sharp objects, weather conditions, and hot or cold temperatures.
- The employee must follow all applicable safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment.
- The schedule may include early mornings, overtime, weekends, or emergency service work based on operational needs.

Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour
