Safety Manager
Simpson & Simpson Management Consulting is seeking an experienced Construction Safety Manager to support a large, multi-site public-sector construction program in the Greater Los Angeles area.
This is a field-focused role for a safety professional who is comfortable working across multiple active construction sites and partnering directly with project managers, contractors, field teams, and owner representatives.
What You'll Do
- Provide construction safety oversight across multiple active project sites.
- Monitor contractor compliance with OSHA, project safety requirements, and OCIP procedures.
- Conduct site safety inspections and prepare daily and weekly safety reports.
- Participate in construction meetings and lead discussions regarding site observations, upcoming work, and hazard preparedness.
- Review contractor safety documentation, including JHAs, MOPs, Fall Protection Plans, Crane Lift Plans, Excavation Plans, Scaffold Plans, and Confined Space Entry procedures.
- Review safety incidents, participate in safety stand-downs, track corrective actions, and support lessons-learned reporting.
- Coordinate closely with project management, contractor site management, and field teams.
- Provide safety oversight for demolition, renovation, modernization, and new construction projects, including work involving asbestos, lead-based paint, abatement, and hazardous-material handling.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on construction safety experience and is comfortable managing priorities across multiple active projects.
Minimum experience:
- 7+ years of U.S. commercial construction experience with a General Contractor.
- 5+ years of California construction experience with a contractor or major subcontractor.
- 2+ years of educational construction experience in a campus environment.
- Experience with OCIP programs.
- Strong experience supporting demolition, renovation, and new construction projects.
- Experience managing safety incidents, daily construction reporting, and contractor compliance.
- Ability to travel between multiple project sites throughout the Greater Los Angeles area.
Required Certifications
Candidates must have an active/current:
SMS (Safety Management Specialist), CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician), OR CSMC (Certified Safety Manager – Construction)
AND
Current First Aid/CPR/AED Certification
Copies of required certifications will be requested as part of the qualification process. These credentials are mandatory for consideration.
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Construction Management, Safety Management, Safety Engineering, or a related field.
- 40-Hour HAZWOPER
- OSHA 500
- Additional construction safety/health certifications.
