California Solar Leader, HES Renewables, a Solar Technologies company, is seeking an experienced and self-motivated Commercial Construction Project Manager to join our San Diego-based Southern California Commercial PV team.
Note: This is a hybrid remote position that requires regular jobsite visits in Southern California. Applicants must either be located in Southern California or be willing to relocate at their own cost prior to start of job.
The Commercial Construction Project Manager is responsible for managing commercial solar projects from permit approval through construction, inspection, commissioning, and closeout. This role serves as the primary point of contact for customers and general contractors during construction and coordinates internal crews, subcontractors, procurement, scheduling, safety, quality control, and project documentation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
● Manage commercial solar projects from permit approval through construction,
commissioning, PTO, and closeout.
● Serve as the primary point of contact for customers and general contractors during
construction.
● Review permitted plans and Bills of Materials for accuracy, constructability, and
buildability.
● Coordinate material procurement, equipment quotes, rentals, and other project
resources.
● Manage project schedules and coordinate internal installation crews and subcontractors.
● Solicit subcontractor bids and prepare subcontract agreements as needed.
● Coordinate design changes and as-built revisions with the Design Team.
● Track project labor hours, crew timekeeping, and progress against project budgets and
schedules.
● Develop project safety plans and ensure compliance with company and job-specific
safety requirements.
● Monitor field work through site visits, daily check-ins, photos, and project checklists to
ensure quality standards are met.
● Maintain clean, organized, and professional jobsites.
● Coordinate and schedule inspections, quality-control reviews, commissioning, and PTO.
● Verify project documentation, monitoring, commissioning, and final as-built plans are
complete.
● Lead project closeout activities and coordinate final QC reviews with the Operations
Team.
● Support and lead lessons-learned reviews to improve safety, quality, and project
execution.
Qualifications and Skills
● Three or more years of project management experience in commercial solar PV or
construction preferred.
● Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant industry
experience.
● Working knowledge of commercial solar construction, field operations, safety, quality
control, inspections, and commissioning.
● Ability to read construction documents and identify constructability issues and field risks.
● Strong organizational, time-management, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
● Ability to effectively coordinate crews, subcontractors, vendors, customers, general
contractors, and internal teams.
● Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, schedules, and deadlines simultaneously.
Pay: $110,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
