Structural Steel Estimator (Spring Valley, CA)
West Coast Iron, Inc. is a well-established Structural Steel and Miscellaneous Iron Fabrication Company with an in-house erection company. We are currently seeking an Experienced Estimator to join our team. This position is office based and the estimates would be reviewed by the Chief Estimator.
The ideal candidate must have effective computer skills, as well as good written and verbal communication skills.
Job Overview:
- Review and analyze bid instructions, drawings, specifications, and other documentation presented by the client, to accurately prepare and estimate projects.
- Prepare a takeoff including materials, buyout items, shop and field erection labor, equipment costs (including crane costs) to prepare a thorough price estimate.
- Prepare detail oriented and accurate estimates on new projects and estimate prices for any change orders on existing contracts, meeting assigned deadlines.
- Type up all estimates in our in-house Excel based estimating program, enter takeoff, drawing numbers, reference details etc.
- Interact with other key team members professionally. You would report and work under the supervision of our Chief estimator.
- Collaborate with others on which projects we want to pursue.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent and at least 5+ years related experience in estimating and bidding on Structural Steel and Miscellaneous Steel Projects.
- Strong knowledge of Computers & Software, MS Office 365, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- The ability to understand construction design drawings, specifications, building and welding codes & symbols.
Compensation/Benefits:
- 90-day probationary period, pay will be based on experience
- After 90 days the successful candidate is eligible for Health Insurance, Paid Holidays, Vacation and Company Pension Plan.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
