Overview
The Roofing Warehouse Employee is responsible for the efficient handling, organization, and distribution of roofing materials, tools, and equipment in the warehouse. This role includes receiving, storing, and shipping roofing products, as well as ensuring the safe handling of materials. The warehouse employee plays a critical role in supporting the installation teams by ensuring they have the right materials and equipment for their jobs, while maintaining an organized and safe warehouse environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Material Handling and Organization:
- Receive incoming shipments of roofing materials (e.g., shingles, underlayment, flashing)
- Inspect materials for quality and quantity upon receipt, noting any damages or discrepancies, and reporting them to management.
- Store materials in the appropriate locations in the warehouse, ensuring proper organization to facilitate easy retrieval.
- Ensure that inventory levels of roofing materials are maintained and well-stocked.
- Maintain a clean and organized warehouse, ensuring that items are stored securely and safely.
Inventory Management:
- Track inventory of roofing and solar materials using an inventory management system, including keeping accurate counts and updating records as materials are received, used, or shipped.
- Conduct regular inventory counts (e.g., weekly or monthly) to ensure stock accuracy and prevent shortages.
- Monitor stock levels of high-demand items and notify the warehouse manager of the need to reorder materials before stock runs low.
- Ensure that materials are labeled correctly, including appropriate safety markings for solar and electrical components.
Order Fulfillment and Shipping:
- Pick and prepare orders for delivery to job sites, ensuring that the correct quantity and type of materials are included.
- Load materials onto trucks for delivery to roofing, teams, ensuring that the load is secure and properly organized.
Safety and Compliance:
- Follow safety procedures when handling materials, including proper lifting techniques, the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and safe handling of potentially hazardous materials.
- Ensure that the warehouse complies with all relevant health and safety regulations, including OSHA standards.
- Maintain safety protocols for storing and handling materials such as roofing chemicals.
- Report any safety hazards, damaged equipment, or unsafe conditions in the warehouse to management immediately.
Tool and Equipment Maintenance:
- Inspect and maintain warehouse tools, equipment, and machinery, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and material handling systems.
Customer Support and Communication:
- Address any discrepancies in materials or inventory and work with the warehouse manager to resolve issues promptly.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of material receipts, shipments, and inventory transactions, using both digital and paper documentation as needed.
- Assist with the preparation of reports on material usage, inventory levels, and order status.
- Ensure that all shipping and receiving documentation is filed properly and can be accessed for audits or tracking purposes.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Previous experience in warehouse operations, inventory management, or construction/materials handling preferred.
- Familiarity with roofing materials, solar components, and construction tools is a plus.
- Experience operating warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and material handling equipment is beneficial.
Skills:
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to maintain an orderly and efficient warehouse.
- Basic knowledge of safety practices, especially related to the handling of construction and solar materials.
- Good physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy materials (up to [X] lbs).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Certifications:
- OSHA 10-hour certification or similar safety training is a plus.
- Forklift certification may be required depending on warehouse operations.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy materials (up to 100lbs) regularly.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in various weather conditions if warehouse is not climate controlled.
- Ability to work at heights, depending on warehouse setup or in outdoor environments during material delivery.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in a warehouse environment, which may be subject to changing temperatures and weather conditions.
- Willingness to work in conditions where dust, dirt, and noise may be present.
- Requires the ability to work in a team, as well as independently.
- Occasional overtime may be required during busy periods or to meet project deadlines.
- Safety protocols, including the use of PPE (gloves, safety boots, hard hats), must be followed at all times.

Pay: $21.00 - $24.00 per hour
