Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Analysis
- Review project specifications, drawings, and addenda to determine complete scope and requirements.
- Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and develop accurate cost estimates for electrical projects.
- Analyze labor rates, productivity data, and historical cost information to ensure precise calculations.
- Provide value engineering recommendations to optimize cost and efficiency.
- Review all estimates with the Director of Estimating prior to submission.
- Maintain profitability and account for potential risks in all bids.
Bid Management & Risk Control
- Manage all estimating activities for assigned projects independently.
- Draft and submit RFIs in a timely manner and follow up on responses.
- Participate in job walks to develop accurate project scopes.
- Submit and track bid status, ensuring timely communication with clients.
- Identify and pursue new bidding opportunities to expand company market share.
Client Relations
- Build and maintain strong client relationships to support repeat and future business.
- Provide cost and feasibility data to assist clients in decision-making.
Documentation & Project Turnover
- Maintain organized digital records of all estimates, correspondence, and supporting documents.
- Conduct thorough project turnovers to the Operations team to ensure smooth execution.
- Support the estimating and project management teams with additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 4–7 years of estimating, cost control, or engineering experience in the construction industry.
- Experience with design-build projects and conceptual estimating is highly desirable.
- Proficient in Trimble Accubid, Trimble LiveCount, Procore, Pantera, Bluebeam Revu, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
