The role of the Piping Estimator is to assemble and prepare piping and plumbing estimates from either completed or partial documents.
Major Responsibilities & Essential Duties
Attend project job walks and walkthroughs.
Prepare conceptual budgets from bridging documents and BOD.
Read and understand Request for Proposals (RFP) and Bid Forms.
Read and analyze bid drawings, project manual, PID, and piping details.
Set up material and hanger specification, and piping systems in Trimble/QuickPen.
Prepare quantity take-offs using Trimble/QuickPen digital estimating software.
Prepare estimates by listing all materials, equipment, and adding in all labor and support costs.
Breakdown estimate based on the requirements of RFP and Bid Forms.
Solicit vendor and subcontractor quotes.
Analyze the equipment or services offered by vendors and subcontractors used in the estimate.
Review estimates with the Senior Estimator or Director of Estimating and make recommendations.
Present difficulties and complicating factors to the Senior Estimator or Director of Estimating.
Participate in the bid reviews with the upper management.
Follow-up with clients on proposal and bid results.
Participate in the post-bid interviews with General Contractors and Owners.
Maintain relationships with the equipment, material, and subcontracting communities.
Advise our vendors of upcoming bids for them to quote.
Maintain a historical record of project costs, scope, and benchmark pricing indices.
Maintain current knowledge of codes and ordinances.
Minimum Requirements
5 years of “On-Screen” estimating experience.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office productivity software, Outlook, Bluebeam, and Zoom.
