Job Opening: Master Bus Mechanic (Diesel, Gas, and Alternative Fuels) at American Transportation

Responsibilities:
1. **Fleet Maintenance:** Oversee the maintenance and repair of our bus fleet, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and compliance with California laws and regulations.
2. **California Laws Expertise:** Stay up-to-date with all relevant California laws and regulations pertaining to bus transportation. Ensure our vehicles and operations adhere to state requirements.
3. **CHP Inspections:** Oversee successful California Highway Patrol (CHP) inspections to ensure our company and its vehicles remain operating without issue. Address any inspection findings promptly and implement corrective actions.
4. **Diagnose and Troubleshoot:** Utilize advanced diagnostic equipment to identify mechanical, electrical, and technical issues. Provide efficient solutions to keep our buses on the road.
5. **Repair and Service:** Perform maintenance, repairs, and service tasks on engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, electrical systems, and more.
6. **Alternative Fuel Expertise:** Demonstrate proficiency in servicing buses powered by alternative fuels like CNG or propane, following all safety protocols.
7. **Safety Compliance:** Ensure buses meet safety standards and adhere to federal, state, and local regulations. Conduct regular inspections and address safety concerns promptly.
8. **Technological Proficiency:** Utilize company-provided software and systems to complete daily reporting on maintenance tasks, inspections, and other job-related activities.
9. **Parts Management:** Coordinate with suppliers and maintain an inventory of spare parts. Order replacements as needed to minimize downtime.
10. **Team Coordination:** Supervise and provide guidance to other mechanics or technicians. Collaborate with colleagues to enhance overall efficiency.
11. **Record Keeping:** Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs using digital systems, generating reports when required.
12. **Continuous Learning:** Stay updated with the latest advancements in bus technology, repair techniques, safety protocols, and changes in California laws through workshops and training sessions.
13. **Environmental Standards:** Adhere to environmental regulations regarding waste disposal, hazardous materials, and emissions control.
14. **Emergency Support:** Be available for on-call duty to provide immediate assistance in case of breakdowns or emergencies.
15. **Safety Training:** Conduct safety training sessions for bus drivers and staff to promote safe driving practices.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a bus mechanic, preferably with expertise in diesel, gas, and alternative fuel vehicles.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills with the ability to handle complex repairs.
- In-depth knowledge of California laws and regulations pertaining to bus transportation.
- Experience overseeing successful CHP inspections is highly desirable.
- Technologically proficient in using company-provided software and systems for daily reporting and record-keeping.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed to meet the demands of the job.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
- Certification or degree in automotive technology or a related field (preferred but not mandatory).
