Summary
The incumbent will be assigned to the In-House Construction section at the Northern California Health Care System site in Mather - CA - however - the position also entails traveling to other VANCHCS sites supporting our Outpatient Clinics. The incumbent performs the duties of a journeyman electrician under the supervision of the Construction and Maintenance Foreman.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position - applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required - but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge - skills - and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards. SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element - which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Duties
- Major duties include - but are not limited to the following: Perform installation - maintenance - and/or repair of utility system (i.e. - generators - switch gear - controls - circuit breakers) within a facility
- Maintains controls for equipment in industrial - institutional - office - and residential building
- Performs work under own responsibility in installing - maintaining - troubleshooting - and repairing electrical wiring systems and associated Fixtures - controls - and equipment in industrial - institutional - office and residential buildings
- Plumbing: Performs a variety of plumbing installation and maintenance work which involves removing - cleaning - replacing - and sealing defective parts of utility - supply - and disposal systems
- Repairs traps - clogged pipes and fixtures - and leaky faucets and drains Control Work: Makes repairs on large and small systems where any numbers and types of pneumatic and electrical controls and relays are required to make the system operate at peak efficiency
- Typical systems where these controls would be used are heating - cooling - humidifying - dehumidifying - single phase and dual phase heat pumps - and various types of refrigeration systems
- General maintenance of all systems (electrical - plumbing - HVAC) in the case of emergencies - or if assistance to other staff is required - and all other duties as assigned
