Hazard Companies has a need for a full time, Senior Accountant working in our main office. Hazard Companies Accounting Department has the ability to offer an Alternative Work Schedule of hours.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Senior Accountant is responsible for general accounting functions and additional accounting tasks including performing complex journal and ledger entries and functions. The Senior Accountant will work closely with both internal Departments and external Vendors to ensure timely processing of payable transactions and other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities will include:
· Monthly analysis of Owned and Rented Equipment Cost & Revenue and entering associated adjustments as needed.
· Monthly Inter-company billings and reconciliation of Inter-company transactions.
· Prepare and post other journal entries and assist in other accounting department functions
· Analysis of various bank accounts, intercompany transactions and cash reconciliation.
· Assist in weekly check runs to ensure timely payments to Vendors and provision of all applicable supporting documentation and compliance requirements (Lien releases, certified payroll, insurance, etc.).
· Required communication with Vendors to resolve invoice and payment discrepancies.
· Prepare and amortize prepaid assets and accrued liabilities schedules for posting to General Ledger.
· Setup, maintain and reconcile debt schedules and coordinate timely loan payments, processing and recording.
· Fixed Asset accounting – prepare purchase orders; record asset acquisition and disposal. Record, maintain and reconcile fixed assets records in Asset Keeper Pro (Fixed Asset Software) and Vista Accounting Software. Record monthly depreciation expense for both tax and GAAP books.
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR FORMAL TRAINING, YEARS OF EXPERIENCE, COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND/OR SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE:
· College degree with emphasis on Accounting or Finance.
· Vista by Viewpoint Software experience preferred.
· Strong GAAP knowledge and Financial Statement Preparation.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel, Outlook and Word.
· Minimum 5 years’ experience in the Accounting field.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
· Self-motivated and proactive solution seeker.
· An outgoing, positive attitude while working alone and with a team, with both internal and external parties
