YOU
As an Environmental, Health and Safety Manager, you are responsible for coordinating the federal, state and local compliance program at the Stockton branch, remote warehouses and all shifts by providing guidance to employees in the areas of safety, health, environmental, industrial hygiene and fire protection. The Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) Manager will implement the EH&S strategies and associated programs, and support our environmental initiatives. You will develop EH&S strategies, goals, measurements, policies, programs, and practices focused on improving the health and safety for the branch. Provide leadership and necessary guidance to ensure compliance with health and safety requirements affecting the branch, and to evaluate and ensure their effectiveness over time.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (% of Time)
Oversee the development, implementation, enforcement, and maintenance of the Branch Environmental Health and Safety policies, programs, and procedures. Meet with managers/supervisors to determine business requirements. Develop department risk management strategies. Participate in department and interdepartmental planning and management teams; works cross-functionally to improve processes within the organization. (35%)
Lead, motivate and direct EH&S Coordinator using effective performance management techniques, including establishing expectations and goals, providing recognition and feedback, and addressing performance opportunities. Coach, encourage, and develop employee according to their unique interests and strengths. Empower employee to take responsibility for their career and performance. Delegate responsibility and expect accountability and regular feedback. (15%)
Oversee accident response, reporting, and investigation processes and programs. Develop measures to prevent recurrences and record accident reports in a timely, complete, and accurate manner. Assist leadership in root cause analysis investigations for all accidents. (15%)
Perform annual EH&S audit of Stockton branch and all off-site locations, analyzing and evaluating results of the environmental/safety program. Make recommendations for improvements, and coordinates improvement projects. Develop and implement training programs as necessary.(15%)
Conduct job safety analyses and analyze trends. Develop and administer recognition systems to promote safe and healthful work environment. Promote consistency in all safety policy and procedure. Assess workplace and machinery for potential hazards and compliance with all state and federal laws. Set, monitor and achieve safety metrics. Develop training documents that address exposure to hazardous materials and situation. (15%)
Create emergency response plan for all shifts. (5%)
Desired Skills And Experience

- Bachelor’s Degree (B.A./B.S.) from a four-year college or university required.
- Degree in EH&S, Chemistry, Environmental Engineering or similar preferred.
- Professional Safety, IH or other certification (Completion expected in a reasonable time frame) preferred.
- Knowledge and experience in machine guarding, air quality, storm-water prevention and other environmental programs required.
- Ability to work independently in a non-structured environment and comfortable working on consensus management scenarios preferred.
- 5 years environmental or safety management.
- Knowledge: of laws, legal codes, agency rules, and OSHA regulations.
- Critical Thinking: using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
- Influencing and speaking: communicate effectively at all levels of the organization including from front line employees to Business level leaders of the organization. Talking to others to convey or influence information and safety effectively. Work well with all functional departments and flexibility to support the site while ensuring company standards are met
- Complex problem solving: identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
- Deductive/ inductive reasoning: the ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusion, which includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events. While still applying general rules to the specific problems with a resolution.
- Computer skills: must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Project management: strong project development/management skills with the ability to work with minimal oversight and a strong bias for delivering on commitments to achieve desired results. Able to organize and prioritize complex and varied tasks and projects.

Pay
$86,800 - $138,900 / year
