Application Question(s):
- As a front desk receptionist, you are responsible for managing the day-to-day duties such as answering phones, greeting visitors, and handling mail. At 9:00 AM, your boss gives you an important task with a 10:30 AM deadline. Shortly after, another task is assigned to you by a peer, but this one has a deadline by the end of the day.
How would you balance your front desk responsibilities with these additional tasks? Given that your boss’s task has a 10:30 AM deadline, how would you prioritize your work, and what strategies would you use to ensure both tasks are completed on time while still managing front desk duties?
- You are the front desk receptionist at a busy corporate office. The CEO has a packed schedule today with several important meetings, both on and off the calendar. Throughout the day, unexpected clients and business partners arrive, claiming to have meetings with the CEO, but they aren’t listed on the official schedule. At the same time, the CEO is running late from an off-site meeting, which is delaying the next scheduled appointments.
How would you handle this situation while ensuring the CEO’s day remains organized, the clients feel accommodated, and the office runs smoothly?
- A client arrives at the front desk, visibly upset and demanding to see the CEO immediately. The client does not have a scheduled appointment and insists that the matter is urgent. Despite your attempts to explain that the CEO is in a meeting and cannot be disturbed, the client becomes increasingly rude and insists on being seen right away.
How would you handle this situation professionally while maintaining office protocol and ensuring the client feels heard and respected, without disrupting the CEO's schedule?
