Organization Description: The mission of Gene Slay’s Girls & Boys Club (GSGBC) is to empower girls and boys in the St. Louis metropolitan area, especially those who need us most, to realize their physical, intellectual, and emotional potential.
Since 2018, GSGBC has implemented trauma-informed care through its organizational operation and how services are provided to members and their families. GSGBC is currently working with the Conscious Discipline model, a trauma-informed/evidence-based model of social-emotional learning, to implement trauma-informed care in our Clubs. Conscious Discipline helps us to better understand children’s behavior and emphasizes safety, connection, and problem solving. Staff are trained in trauma-informed care and will be provided with the tools to better understand how trauma affects our members, and how they can deal with the behaviors associated with trauma.
GSGBC offers afterschool and summer programming for youth ages 6-16, serving more than 700 youth annually at three campuses. GSGBC supports youth development and holistic health with programs that include: Academics, Athletics, Character Building, Healthy Living, College & Career Readiness and The Arts.
Schedule:
The Afterschool Program runs August through May, 2:30pm-7:30pm; Summer Camp runs for eight weeks in June and July, 7:00 am-6:00 pm. The Youth Services Program Manager works approximately 40 hours per week, with an anticipated schedule of 11 am – 7:30 pm during the school year and 6:45 am – 3:15 pm during the summer. This is subject to change.
Primary Function:
The Youth Services Program Manager is responsible for the coordination, implementation, and management of the day-to-day program operations and staffing of the following program areas: Academics, Athletics, Character Building, Healthy Living, College & Career Readiness and The Arts. The Youth Services Program Manager embodies passion for the organization and mission. In collaboration with the Director of Programs, the Program Manager ensures the implementation of high-impact programs, effective member recruitment and program marketing and safe facilities and procedures.
Key Roles (Essential Responsibilities):
Instructional Features
· Ensure quality implementation of all programs offered at GSGBC
· Oversee the implementation of a variety of activities across all program areas
· Support implementation of programming which supports youth development
· Ensure all academic, enrichment, and socialization activities are engaging, developmentally appropriate, meet student needs, and respect cultural diversity
Management
· Implement the Club’s mission statement and communicate the Club’s philosophy and goals to youth, parents, and the St. Louis community
· Manage and mentor all frontline program staff, including scheduling, troubleshooting, and flexibility in addressing unscheduled daily operational needs
· Ensure that program spaces are appropriately maintained including daily cleaning and organization and maintaining adequate supplies
Evaluation
· Responsible for the evaluation of program staff on an ongoing basis
Administration
· Ensure the program staff adhere to Club policies and procedures
· Make appropriate fiduciary decisions in compliance with the Director of Programs including ensuring appropriate work hours
· Oversee meal program, including maintaining meal program records and supplies
· Report program activities based on member engagement and stated member and parent outcomes
· Assist with data collection for compliance with grant outcomes and requirements
· Work collaboratively with the Director of Programs on recruitment activities and events
· Participate in team hiring process
· Maintain broad understanding of state regulations and ensure programming and facilities are in compliance
Positive Relationships:
· Promote a culture of health, wellness, social well-being, and safety throughout the Club through activities and special events
· Actively participate in appropriate training sessions and meetings
· Work collaboratively with all organizational staff
· Ensure that youth development principles are incorporated into all program activities
· Understand and communicate the Club’s philosophy and goals to youth, parents, and community
· Serve as a positive role model for youth
· Build and sustain ongoing relationships with youth, parents, and staff
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent, required; Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or Business Management, preferred
- Minimum 3-5 years of frontline supervision experience required
- Currently have or the ability to obtain Department of Elementary & Secondary Education Center Director Certification for licensed capacity of up to 99 children): Ninety (90) college semester credits with eighteen (18) of the credits in child related courses, OR three (3) years experience with eighteen (18) college semester credits in child-related courses
- Group facilitation and/or consultation experience, and previous experience within a youth serving organization, elementary or middle school or similar social service agency
- Knowledge of and experience with youth development best practices
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong leadership skills and ability to work well as a leader/member of a team
- Able to problem solve and process through critical thinking
- Microsoft Office Suite proficiency and general computer skills required

- Must have reliable transportation
- Must pass the health and employment requirements set by Department of Elementary & Secondary Education as a condition of employment
Hours & Benefits:
This position is classified as non-exempt and therefore will qualify for overtime pay for hours worked over 40 hours.
This position is eligible for benefits. Once effective, the benefit package for this position will include 10 days of PTO, 14 paid holidays and the following, fully-paid health benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance 2x annual salary, Short-Term and Long-Term Disability. Additionally, GSGBC provides 10% of your annual salary as a contribution to a 401k per year, a vesting schedule applies.
