GENERAL SUMMARY
Supervises the day-to-day operation of journey level HVAC team members who maintain and install air handling, air cleaning, and refrigeration equipment to ensure HVAC systems function properly, minimizes breakdowns, and other interruptions in service. Performs journey level work in connection with the maintenance, trouble shooting, repair, and installation of utility and building systems and their associated controls, sub-systems, and mechanical, and electrical devices, including high and low voltage equipment.
CORE SCOPE OF POSITION
- Supervises the day-to-day operation of the HVAC maintenance team members who maintain and install air handling, air cleaning, and refrigeration equipment.
- Develops and monitors schedules and staffing throughout the shift to ensure proper coverage at all times.
- Observes, monitors, trains, coaches, and documents team members’ guest service and technical performance.
- Ensures staff achieves results while performing their assigned tasks.
- Ensures HVAC systems function properly, minimizes breakdowns and other interruptions in service.
- Trains staff on the expectations and responsibilities of their positions.
- Ensures staff is trained in all departmental procedures, rules, regulations, and standards.
- Ensures staff is aware of marketing promotions and changes related to Viejas Enterprises’ policies and procedures.
- Develops and implements maintenance programs to maintain all HVAC systems, smoke eaters, and Trion units and their systems, components, fixtures, and equipment according to established maintenance practices and manufacturer’s requirements.
- Designs and develops detail plans/specifications and cost estimates for new installations and repairs. Develops a bill for materials, estimate hours, and submits completed job package to manager.
- Oversees the repair of systems, components, fixtures, and equipment in response to trouble calls, work orders, or specific assignments for manager.
- Diagnoses malfunctioning machinery with other maintenance workers, such as supervisors, electricians, and maintenance staff in order to diagnose the cause of the malfunction.
- Tests malfunctioning machinery with other maintenance staff and electricians in order to diagnose the cause of the malfunction.
- Ensures faulty electrical components of machines, such as relays, switches, motors, and refrigeration units are replaced.
- Diagnoses and oversees the repair or replacement of faulty electronic components, such as printed circuit boards.
- Ensures electrical motor bearings are replaced and motors are rewired.
- Diagnoses and oversees the replacement of faulty refrigeration equipment in coolers and walk-in refrigeration units and equipment.
- Coordinates construction projects with other supervisors within the department and other casino personnel.
- Functions as project manager for work to be contracted to outside vendors to ensure that outside contractors comply with all aspects of their contract in a timely and cost effective manner throughout the course of work.
- Plans layout of HVAC equipment, ducts, fans, and thermostats, conduit and electrical apparatus in buildings.
- Inspects buildings, facilities, and equipment and makes recommendations to manager.
- May be required to assist with estimating, material takeoffs, project specifications, maintaining files of specifications, blueprints, and diagrams generated from field investigations.
- Assists with updating as-built drawings
- Ensures repairs are made as soon as possible with tools and material readily available.
- Owns all requests and complaints, provides immediate resolutions and follows up to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Ensures adherence to guest service standards as established by the department and the organization.
- Keeps the management informed on all pertinent information that may affect the department, and reports issues and problems as they arise, along with recommendations for solutions.
- Maintains appropriate communication with management and other departments with a follow up to ensure completion of tasks that may affect the delivery of exceptional service.

Required Skills
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Extensive knowledge and experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
- Knowledge of proper use and maintenance of hand and power tools related to job functions.
- Knowledge of building codes, rules, and regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints and system diagrams.
- Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION
- High school diploma, vocational training or the equivalent experience.
- Completion of an apprenticeship program by an accredited facility preferred.
- California driver’s license preferred.
EXPERIENCE
- 2 to 4 years related experience in residential, commercial, and industrial HVAC construction.
- Supervisory/leadership experience preferred.
